Improve the Scala, Bazel, and CI foundations used across Iterable to build, test, and ship services. Own moderate-complexity projects that make the codebase easier to change, the build graph easier to reason about, and CI more reliable at production scale. Partner with product engineering teams to turn recurring developer pain into durable platform improvements, leveraging AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices to speed up complex workflows safely.

•Improve and refine the core developer workflow used to compile, test, package, and validate changes with confidence.
•Contribute to shared engineering foundations, including common libraries, frameworks, build patterns, and service development practices.
•Make CI faster and more reliable by improving feedback loops while preserving quality and release confidence.
•Create leverage for product engineers by turning developer pain points into tools, documentation, automation, and platform improvements.
•Apply AI to engineering work using tools like Cursor and Claude to accelerate platform tasks and improve repeatability and safety.

Key Requirements

•Strong software engineering fundamentals in Scala, Java, Kotlin, or another production language; able to read, modify, test, and review service code in a shared codebase.
•Experience with build systems, dependency management, CI, or test infrastructure; familiarity with Bazel, SBT, Maven, Gradle, GitHub Actions, or similar systems.
•Ability to debug complex build, test, and developer workflow failures and turn repeated issues into fixes, tooling, documentation, or automation.
•Product-minded approach to developer experience—focus on usability, feedback loops, adoption, and whether changes make engineers faster and more confident.
•Comfortable using AI tools such as Cursor and Claude (or similar) for real engineering work, including codebase exploration, test generation, CI triage, and agent orchestration.
