Job Summary

Substation design engineer responsible for the technical guidance and execution of high-voltage substation projects (15kV–345kV, up to 500kV). Work on physical layouts, protection and control systems, and related engineering analyses, within a cross-functional team, supporting design, development, permitting, and construction across utility and industrial contexts.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical guidance for the design, development and construction of high-voltage substation projects (15kV–345kV, up to 500kV).
•Review third-party design documents, procurements, and project plans to ensure adherence to IEEE/NESC/NERC standards and regulatory requirements.
•Develop and document substation layouts, grounding grids, bus arrangements, and protection-and-control schematics (AC/DC) to support safe, reliable operation.
•Perform electrical calculations for loads, sizing, voltage drop, grounding, and power distribution; prepare reports, charts and drawings for presentations and approvals.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to scope small- to medium-sized projects and ensure compliance with safety and project requirements.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
•3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in electrical engineering designing power transmission and distribution systems in utility or industrial/commercial environments.
•Engineer in Training Certification.
•Exposure to operations and project controls experience for purposes of reporting.
•Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
