Job Summary

Join WSP's Energy – Hydropower and Dams team in Ottawa to lead geotechnical design and inspections for earthfill dam projects. As a senior geotechnical engineer, you will guide multidisciplinary teams, prepare technical specifications, advise during construction, and support dam safety assessments while growing proposals and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as a senior engineer for the design of retaining earth structures and inspections, and for plans and technical specifications preparation; provide technical support during construction and conduct risk assessment and dam safety reviews.
•Act as Project Manager or Discipline Lead for major projects within the group, mentoring engineers and technicians to support professional development.
•Participate in quality control of deliverables, including design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
•Contribute to the preparation of proposals and the development of the business unit.
•Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary teams and ensure autonomy, dynamism, and a solution-oriented mindset.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, or another relevant discipline
•Master's degree in geotechnical engineering is an asset
•Strong experience in the design of earthfill dams and retention structures
•Strong experience in dam inspections and dam safety evaluation studies
•Experience in multidisciplinary projects in a discipline lead role and/or project management
