Key Responsibilities

  • •Sample asphalt product and perform duties under NCDOT QMS manual and controlling specifications for federal projects.
  • •Run asphalt quality control tests in the lab or on the roadway, compile test data, and use results to adjust plant or roadway conditions.
  • •Coordinate daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel, crewmembers, and DOT inspectors to obtain necessary samples and mix designs.
  • •Ensure a safe work environment by complying with safety policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, and PPE requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •High school graduate or equivalent, with the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.
  • •Must obtain and maintain DOT certifications required to test asphalt as required by state regulations.
  • •Must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid driver’s license.
  • •Ability to follow NCDOT specifications and perform mathematical calculations for percentages and precise measurements.
  • •Prior experience in asphalt lab, production, and/or lay-down is preferred; current NCDOT certifications are preferred.
