Key Responsibilities

  • •Own and drive the design and development of actuation systems for control surfaces and other electromechanical/hydraulic subsystems through flight test and low-rate production.
  • •Define actuation requirements in collaboration with structures, controls, and systems engineering.
  • •Select, size, and validate actuators, motors, gearboxes, gear linkages, and associated hardware to meet performance, weight, and reliability targets.
  • •Partner with electrical and software teams to integrate actuator control, feedback, and health monitoring into the vehicle flight control system.
  • •Conduct design reviews and analysis, develop test plans, and support component-level bench testing and subsystem/vehicle ground and flight test campaigns.

Key Requirements

  • •3+ years of professional technical engineering experience focused on actuation, electromechanical, or servo-controlled systems.
  • •Proven CAD skills and ability to produce high-quality engineering drawings compliant with common industry standards.
  • •Strong fundamentals in mechanisms, structures, controls, and electromechanical design, including selecting and sizing actuators, motors, gearboxes, and drivetrain components for dynamic reliability applications.
  • •MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape experience for actuator/servo system modeling.
  • •Hands-on prototyping and manufacturing experience, including machine shops (CNC/sheet metal) and rapid prototyping/3D printing; BS or MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering (or equivalent).
