Key Responsibilities

  • •Assess patients’ development, temperament, coping, and adjustment, and use child development knowledge to create and implement developmental plans and interventions.
  • •Deliver therapeutic interactions and activities that offer emotional support, promote growth and development, and divert patients from the hospital experience.
  • •Use preparation and medical play opportunities to reduce misconceptions and increase understanding of hospital procedures.
  • •Provide procedural support to patients, foster coping skills, and evaluate intervention effectiveness to individualize future support.
  • •Collaborate with families, siblings, and multidisciplinary teams, maintain patient care documentation, and participate in assigned weekday/weekend/on-call rotation.

Key Requirements

  • •Complete and maintain regulatory requirements, including licensure and certification and other mandatory training within established time frames.
  • •Maintain professional knowledge through lectures, seminars, or online education units.
  • •Provide therapeutic services and play activities that support the physical, emotional, and developmental growth of patients and minimize stress and trauma.
  • •Maintain willingness to learn and openness to new ideas and practices.
