Serve as Payments Legal Counsel supporting TikTok and Bytedance affiliates across Europe and the UK. Partner with product teams on payments compliance topics including money transfer services, e-money, payment tokens, AML, gifts, stored value cards, and related facilities. Advise on payments licensing, regulator engagement, and build scalable legal review processes, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior managers and global payments business leaders.

Key Responsibilities

•Counsel and partner with product teams on payments compliance issues including money transfer services, e-money, payment tokens, AML, gifts, stored value cards, and relevant facilities.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders (product, compliance, business development) on product development and commercialization of global payment projects and services.
•Advise the global payments business on payments licensing and engagement with regulators.
•Build scalable legal review and launch processes for new payment solutions, features, and products.
•Serve as the subject matter expert on financial service regulations (AML, money transmission, virtual currency, KYC, KYB) across the EU/UK region and act as a trusted advisor to senior managers.

Key Requirements

•Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of experience in fintech/payments compliance, including money service business compliance, AML, KYC, and stored value facilities.
•Knowledge of sanctions and other financial crimes compliance rules and regulations.
•Experience advising on payment product compliance, including managing global or regional compliance and associated consumer-facing risks and regulations.
•Ability to interpret regulations and regulatory guidance and simplify complex topics into clear communications.
•Global or regional exposure in the fintech startup space or creator economy is highly advantageous.
