Key Responsibilities

  • •Drive mechanical design concepts for data center cooling plants, chilled-water distribution, liquid cooling, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • •Review and direct external engineering firms’ drawings, specifications, and construction documentation to align with Anthropic’s Basis of Design.
  • •Evaluate design submittals, shop drawings, and equipment selections; respond to RFIs with clear technical direction and resolve cross-discipline conflicts.
  • •Advance prefabricated and modular mechanical strategy (e.g., modular cooling skids and prefabricated piping assemblies) to accelerate deployment.
  • •Serve as primary mechanical technical point of contact for partners and support installation, testing, and commissioning through site visits.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years designing building mechanical systems for data centers or mission-critical facilities across concept through construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • •Deep familiarity with U.S. mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes and standards, including IMC, IPC, IECC, IBC, NFPA 13, ASME B31, and ASHRAE guidance.
  • •Strong knowledge of chilled-water systems and liquid cooling (direct-to-chip and CDUs), including redundant piping configurations.
  • •Hands-on experience with prefabricated and modular mechanical infrastructure such as modular cooling skids and prefabricated piping assemblies.
  • •Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license (or eligibility) is valued but not required.
