Job Summary

Join the ELYSIS program at Alcoa as a Mechanical Process Technician responsible for material batching, handling, and equipment operation to support development and scale-up of carbon-free aluminum processes. You’ll test samples, operate heavy equipment, maintain safe work practices, and coordinate experiments and documentation with a cross-functional team at the New Kensington facility.

Job Function: Field Service, Maintenance & Skilled Trades

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and execute tasks including material batching, material handling (loading/unloading), and equipment operation and maintenance.
•Prepare and test samples for chemical composition and physical properties using laboratory analytical equipment.
•Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude to work independently and lead teams for equipment disassembly, repair and troubleshooting.
•Develop and maintain safe work instructions and ensure compliance with Alcoa EHS practices.
•Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other mobile equipment.
•Work a 12-hour rotating day/evening shift schedule (initially Monday–Friday daylight shifts).
•Independently outline and perform tasks to achieve objectives with limited progress reviews.
•Coordinate activities related to projects, ensuring documentation, schedule, and metrics are met.
•Coordinate the execution of designed experiments; record and analyze data; communicate results to team members.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED
•2+ years work experience in an industrial environment with emphasis on material handling
•Strong mechanical aptitude
•Ability to work in a team oriented and learning environment
•Strong attention to detail or safety-focused mindset
