Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide day-to-day operational support to Coding Managers, including workflow coordination aligned with operational priorities.
  • •Monitor coding work queues, assign or redistribute workloads as directed, and escalate issues impacting productivity or turnaround times.
  • •Serve as a resource for routine coding and workflow questions; provide technical guidance and mentorship to promote coding accuracy and compliance.
  • •Reinforce departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards; support monitoring of coding productivity, quality, and turnaround time metrics.
  • •Assist with compliance for ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines; support ongoing education and departmental workflow/system improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum 5 years of progressive medical coding experience.
  • •Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
  • •Thorough understanding of CMS regulations, NCCI, Official Coding Guidelines, and payer-specific requirements.
  • •Experience serving as a senior/lead coder, trainer, mentor, or similar role is preferred.
  • •Experience using electronic health records (EHR) and coding software; current coding certification is preferred (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC, RHIT, or RHIA).
