Key Responsibilities

  • •Demonstrate extensive knowledge of transmission line systems and apply it to estimating scope for HV overhead and underground projects.
  • •Estimate electrical substation and switchyard work (transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus work, grounding grids, yard works).
  • •Prepare quantity take-offs, bills of materials, and cost estimates across classification levels and stage gates from conceptual design to detailed design.
  • •Use parametric and deterministic estimating methodologies, including crew cost methods and assemblies, to develop estimating roadmaps (BoE, estimate reports, and final packages).
  • •Communicate with clients to clarify requirements, prepare RFIs, incorporate feedback, and ensure accurate final submissions using estimating/takeoff platforms.

Key Requirements

  • •Seasoned Senior Transmission (High Voltage) Estimator with 10+ years’ experience in transmission line and substation projects.
  • •5–8 years of cost estimating experience for transmission line and substation projects across pre- and post-contract phases.
  • •In-depth knowledge of transmission line systems (HV overhead/underground, towers/poles, stringing/sagging/tensioning, insulators, OPGW, fiber optics, line energization) and substations/switchyards.
  • •Working knowledge of Protection, Control, and SCADA systems, plus mid- and low-voltage electrical components and industry standards/manuals (e.g., NECA, RS Means).
  • •Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) or a college diploma in Electrical Power; PQS and/or P.Eng is an asset.
