Key Responsibilities

  • •Produce roadway design plans from preliminary engineering through final construction documents for NCDOT and municipal projects.
  • •Prepare and review roadway alignments, profiles, typical sections, cross sections, and geometric layouts in accordance with NCDOT manuals and policies.
  • •Develop and check design calculations for roadway geometry, earthwork, drainage, pavement, and roadside features.
  • •Prepare maintenance of traffic (MOT), signing and pavement marking, erosion & sediment control, and right-of-way plan elements.
  • •Perform and document quality control (QC) reviews, coordinate with internal discipline teams, and mentor junior engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or related field) plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency.
  • •Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
  • •8 years of roadway design experience, including exposure to DOT or municipal projects.
  • •Working knowledge of NCDOT roadway design standards, manuals, and plan development processes.
  • •Experience with roadway design software (MicroStation/OpenRoads/GEOPAK or Civil 3D).
