Key Responsibilities

  • •Transport bulk scrap commodities safely and efficiently to/from barges, railcars, trucks, and storage facilities while meeting supervisor expectations and published procedures.
  • •Operate construction trucks (up to approximately 100 tons) to move scrap and/or finished materials between marine docks, storage yards, receiving bins, and other required locations.
  • •Understand and comply with policies, procedures, and guidelines for safe vehicle operation.
  • •Perform routine pre-operation vehicle inspections and note problems requiring maintenance; perform approved maintenance as needed.
  • •Handle fueling and lubrication, follow safe procedures for loading/traveling/dumping, startup/shut down and lockout, ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness, and respond to customer requests for service, materials, and support.

Key Requirements

  • •High school graduation certificate (or equivalent) is desired but not required.
  • •Previous experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.
  • •Must be able to operate and maintain equipment safely at all times.
  • •Must be able to take direction and supervision and work cooperatively with others.
  • •Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and work extended periods sitting in the vehicle cab in all weather; available for all shifts and weekends.
