Job Summary

Coordinate the Studio Museum’s teen programs, with a focus on Expanding the Walls: Making Connections Between Photography, History and Community. Facilitate an eight-month, photography-based learning experience for high school students; manage outreach, recruitment, curriculum delivery, exhibition guidance, and participant logistics. Collaborate across departments and community partners, handle administrative program operations, and support youth through mentoring, gatherings, excursions, and related Learning & Engagement events.

Key Responsibilities

•Coordinate and implement all aspects of the Museum’s teen programs (including Expanding the Walls, Teen Studio, and related initiatives).
•Implement the Expanding the Walls (ETW) curriculum and facilitate learning across museum, photography/image-making, arts careers/pathways, exhibition planning, and community engagement.
•Guide participants through ETW exhibition elements, including image selection, artist statements, and didactics.
•Manage outreach and recruitment for Expanding the Walls, including application and selection, and coordinate teen program outreach with Communications and Marketing.
•Perform program administration (participation tracking, documentation, supply ordering, program evaluation, and year-end reporting) and supervise/mentor participating youth.

Travel: Low travel

Key Requirements

•BA/BFA or MA/MFA in art, art history, education, African American Studies, or a related field.
•At least 3 years of relevant experience in youth/adult/community programming, including planning, development, and implementation.
•Minimum 3 years’ experience working with high school-age youth in a structured learning environment.
•Experience developing multi-layered program curricula and museum education/inquiry-based teaching practice.
•Strong written and oral communication skills, excellent time management and problem-solving, and advanced computer skills (MS Office; Adobe Photoshop a plus).
