Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead technical execution of complex integration and instrumentation efforts on larger test assets and platforms from concept through functional capability.
  • •Perform hands-on build, integration, instrumentation, and modification work including fixtures/materials, power and avionics, wiring/networking, and sensor/payload integration.
  • •Own the technical approach for the team’s most complex integration and instrumentation work and shape RIT’s technical direction.
  • •Serve as a recognized technical authority across business lines and partner programs, influencing decisions on complex integrations and supporting cross-functional initiatives.
  • •Develop and execute streamlined test plans, ensure adherence to baseline safety plans, and provide technical direction and mentoring as needed while participating in weekly stand-ups and SITREPs.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • •Typically 15+ years of relevant experience as a seasoned expert with significant influence.
  • •Deep hands-on UxS engineering expertise across build, integration, and modification (fixtures, materials, power/avionics, wiring/networking, sensors/payloads).
  • •Experience taking complex hardware/software systems from concept through flight test.
  • •In-depth knowledge of Pixhawk autopilot systems and the ArduPilot stack, plus hands-on work with rapid prototyping and small UAS/drones including NAS and UAS regulations.
