Job Summary

Serve as a trusted advisor to Checkr’s revenue organization by drafting, negotiating, and closing enterprise commercial agreements across SaaS, licensing, partnerships, and data provider arrangements. Own deals end-to-end with practical, risk-based guidance, escalate when needed, and partner closely with Sales, Revenue, and Compliance. Build scalable commercial templates, playbooks, and internal processes, and research key legal requirements such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

•Lead the review, drafting, and negotiation of commercial agreements including SaaS, licensing, partnership, and data provider agreements.
•Own deals end-to-end, providing practical, risk-based guidance aligned with commercial goals and risk thresholds, and knowing when to escalate.
•Advise Sales and Revenue teams independently and build consensus across stakeholders to resolve deal issues.
•Create, improve, and manage commercial templates, playbooks, and internal processes to help the legal team scale.
•Research and analyze laws affecting the business, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and manage outside counsel on commercial matters.

Key Requirements

•JD and active membership in good standing of the California Bar.
•3+ years of experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements, ideally with in-house experience at a high-growth technology company.
•Working knowledge of commercial agreement issues such as liability, indemnification, risk allocation, data protection, and privacy (including when to consult experts on the FCRA).
•Pragmatic judgment to resolve issues in the context of commercial goals and risk thresholds, and communicate clearly to non-lawyers and senior stakeholders.
•Ability to manage many projects independently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail and sound judgment.
