Job Summary

Help execute the prevention-focused security control strategy for the Defend product within Mastercard’s Security Threat & Response Management program. You’ll translate security strategy and threat models into technical initiatives, lead engineering work for core defenses, configure and optimize security tooling (EDR/XDR, SIEM, SOAR, NGFW, DLP, UEBA/NDR, IDS), and continuously tune detections to improve coverage and fidelity while collaborating across SecOps, engineering, endpoint, identity, and cloud teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Implement the strategic technical roadmap for the Defend product team covering defensive security controls, platforms, capabilities, and configurations across security tools.
•Translate security strategy and requirements into technical initiatives and backlog-ready engineering work items.
•Act as a technical lead for the Defend feature team by prioritizing work, sharing expertise, and maintaining engineering standards and outcomes.
•Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, endpoint, identity, cloud, and SecOps teams to implement and optimize security controls.
•Configure, integrate, and continuously tune security tooling and detections to improve coverage and fidelity while aligning with security standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
•2–3 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, security operations, incident response, detection engineering, threat hunting, or related disciplines.
•Hands-on Security Engineer experience across multiple security domains and SecOps functions, including security operations, incident response, detection engineering, threat hunting, and insider threat.
•Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery models with backlog refinement and sprint execution.
•Comfort configuring access controls, tuning detections, integrating telemetry, and supporting detection lifecycles.
