Own the automation layer powering the People Team at Duolingo by building and governing Workato-based automations across the People tech stack (Workday, Greenhouse, payroll, benefits, and third‑party tools). Key Responsibilities

•Act as a strategic voice on People technology at Duolingo — understand the current systems landscape, identify gaps and opportunities, and partner with People Team leadership to shape the technology roadmap
•Serve as the primary builder and technical owner of Workato-based automations across the People tech stack, designing workflows that connect systems, eliminate manual processes, and scale with the business
•Establish and own the governance framework for People Team automation — standards, documentation practices, access controls, and policies to ensure reliability and auditability
•Identify and fill automation gaps across the People systems ecosystem — Workday, Greenhouse, benefits platforms, payroll systems, and other tools to ensure accurate data flows
•Proactively gather requirements, map processes, translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization

Key Requirements

•Minimum of a baccalaureate degree
•5+ years of experience in HR technology, People systems, or a related technical role
•Hands-on experience building and managing automations using Workato or a comparable iPaaS platform (e.g., MuleSoft, Boomi, Zapier) — experience with Workato specifically is strongly preferred
•A proven track record of not just building automations, but owning them — including governance, documentation, and ongoing stewardship of solutions in production
•Proven ability to translate People team requirements into technical solutions, with demonstrated success eliminating manual processes through automation
