Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead full-cycle mechanical design for spacecraft and associated systems, including requirements derivation, modeling, materials selection, fabrication supervision, assembly, testing, and integration.
  • •Design deployment mechanisms and small, high-precision components (e.g., boxes, structures, pressure vessels) developed to work within tight tolerances.
  • •Drive product maturity through rapid prototyping, design verification, and qualification or acceptance test campaigns.
  • •Implement structural components and mechatronics with environmental testing (e.g., vibration, shock, thermal vacuum) to assure robustness and characterize performance envelopes.
  • •Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews and mentor/grow the team while supporting root cause analysis in production operations.

Key Requirements

  • •15+ years of professional experience in hardware product development, including at least 5 years designing space flight hardware.
  • •Experience with ground-up system design and any 3D CAD.
  • •Hands-on assembly, prototyping, testing, and performance characterization of mechanisms for 0g in a 1g environment.
  • •Understanding of NASA-GEVS (or equivalent) and solid experience with all facets of spaceflight environmental testing, including familiarity with launch environments and system integration.
  • •Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
