Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and design heat rejection and HVAC systems tailored for data centers, including cooling approach, redundancy, airflow management, humidity control, energy efficiency, and compliance.
  • •Select and specify appropriate air/water-side cooling systems (e.g., fan wall units, CRAHs, chilled water, DX, CRAC, in-row cooling, and containment) based on cooling requirements and equipment criticality.
  • •Run and analyze CFD simulations to optimize airflow distribution, identify hotspots, and recommend design modifications; coordinate changes with other trades.
  • •Design redundancy and fault-tolerant HVAC features (backup cooling, automatic switchover, monitoring) to support continuous operation during failure or maintenance.
  • •Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for current and future IT loads and facility areas; implement energy efficiency and filtration/air quality strategies.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency).
  • •Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
  • •P.E. registration is required.
  • •Knowledge of data center TER Standard Topology (Uptime Institute), TIA 942, and ANSI/BICSI 002.
  • •Ability to design HVAC/heat rejection systems for data centers with energy-efficient and code-compliant approaches.
