Switchman

Assist in the safe movement of locomotives and railcars by throwing switches, setting brakes, coupling and uncoupling cars, and flagging/signaling as needed. Maintain constant awareness of your assigned area for hazards, equipment issues, track obstructions, and nearby motorists, pedestrians, mobile equipment, and cranes. Plan railcar movements, judge stopping distances for radio signals, and complete required checklists and Standard Operating Procedures.
