Job Summary

Maintain and repair lagoon and sewer-line infrastructure to support biosecurity and animal-welfare standards. Follow Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS) and participate in the EMS to ensure compliance with laws and site procedures. Perform preventive maintenance, unplug/clean sewer discharge lines, and use a sewer camera to locate blockages. Work outdoors in all weather, complete emergency on-call coverage, and support safe emergency notification procedures.

Key Responsibilities

•Learn, understand, and implement biosecurity policies and procedures.
•Follow animal welfare policies and the Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS).
•Maintain compliance with EMS and applicable laws and procedures.
•Unplug, clean, and perform preventive maintenance on sewer discharge lines.
•Use a sewer camera to identify plugs and report environmental issues immediately to a supervisor.

Key Requirements

•Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (or willingness to attain).
•High school diploma or GED, required.
•Able to lift 70 lbs unassisted with full range of motion.
•Must have a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
•Must be able to work an average 45-hour week (about 9 hours/day) and perform weekend, evening, and holiday work as needed.
