Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and check hydraulic models using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11/21, HEC-RAS and ICM to assist the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies
  • •Develop water quality models (physico-chemical, biological, bacterial or chemical) using industry standard software such as MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM
  • •Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, considering risks and opportunities in each project
  • •Undertake and check hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP
  • •Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion-pound framework contracts

Key Requirements

  • •Significant experience in hydraulic and water quality modelling software (such as Mike, ICM, SIMCAT, Flood Modeller and/ or TUFLOW)
  • •Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements in preparing flood models for flood risk assessments
  • •Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • •Obtained or near to obtaining professional qualification with CIWEM or similar
  • •Practical knowledge of scripting programmes such as Python, Anaconda, Ruby would be advantageous
