Job Summary

Perform power testing and energization (PTE) field work for utility substations and industrial electrical systems, supporting protection and control teams across high-voltage sites. Execute testing and commissioning to IEEE/NETA/NFPA/NESC standards, run hands-on protective relay tests (e.g., Omicron and Doble), document results with digital tools and mobile apps, and ensure safety, compliance, and accurate data integrity. Travel to project locations and support field leads and technicians.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform testing and commissioning tasks for protection and control systems on high-voltage substations.
•Conduct on-site protective relay testing using relay test sets (e.g., Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150) and test examples such as SEL and GE relays.
•Document site activities using field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications, maintaining data integrity and attention to detail.
•Perform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directed, and support project leads or field supervisors.
•Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols; escalate complex technical problems and unexpected field conditions as needed.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum 7 years of electrical testing industry experience, including medium/high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
•Expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays and protective schemes (e.g., SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families).
•Hands-on skills with protective relay calibration and testing (e.g., Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150; static and dynamic testing; uploading settings to microprocessor relays).
•Proficiency with electrical field testing standards and procedures (NETA, IEEE, NFPA) and ability to read electrical drawings, prepare field logs/reports, and support field safety and compliance.
