Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of critically ill and medically complex patients, providing ICU coverage and management.
  • •Manage mechanical ventilation and airway support, including tracheostomy care and ventilator weaning programs, and conduct peri-operative anesthesia assessments and management when required.
  • •Perform invasive procedures (e.g., central venous catheterization, arterial line insertion, intubation, emergency airway management) and lead rapid response and emergency resuscitation.
  • •Interpret and manage diagnostic investigations and develop individualized treatment plans aligned with rehabilitation and recovery goals.
  • •Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, communicate with patients and families, support discharge planning, maintain clinical documentation, and contribute to clinical audits, mortality/morbidity reviews, quality improvement, and policy development.

Key Requirements

  • •MBBS (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • •Completion of residency training in Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, Internal Medicine, or an equivalent specialty.
  • •Recognized board certification/fellowship (e.g., CCT, Arab Board, European Board, UK/US/RC certifications) or equivalent qualification.
  • •Consultant level: minimum 8-10 years of post-specialty experience, including significant ICU/critical care/anesthesia/long-term acute care exposure; or specialist level: minimum 3-5 years post-specialization in Critical Care and/or Anesthesia.
  • •Eligible for NHRA Consultant or Specialist License in Bahrain, with valid BLS and ACLS (preferably ATLS).
