Job Summary

Operate rolling equipment to produce a quality asphalt paving finish by meeting compaction requirements and job-site aesthetics. Follow paving patterns and specifications, including grades, drainage, aggregate sizes, oil consistencies, and vibrating frequencies. Maintain safe working practices in line with OSHA/MSHA and company policies, perform minor servicing/maintenance, and communicate effectively with supervisors and crew. This role reports to the Paving Foreman and requires extensive travel for a portable paving crew.

Key Responsibilities

•Operate various types of rolling equipment to achieve a quality finished product during paving, focused on compaction and aesthetics.
•Follow directions from the Paving Foreman/manager for daily tasks and expectations for each project or job site.
•Ensure a safe work environment by complying with company safety policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
•Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment or escalate major problems to the supervisor.
•Support team and general job-site duties, including ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.

Key Requirements

•Operate rolling equipment safely and efficiently, smoothing material from the paver to proper depths while following job patterns.
•Understand asphalt paving fundamentals including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction requirements.
•Be familiar with vibrating frequencies in relation to maximum depth and be able to follow grades.
•Maintain efficient working condition of equipment by performing minor servicing/maintenance or referring major problems to the supervisor.
•Meet minimum qualifications: high school diploma or GED plus two years related asphalt and road construction experience (with prior experience with asphalt paving/rolling equipment preferred).
