Key Responsibilities

  • •Inspect extruded aluminum samples to diagnose dimensional inaccuracies, flow inconsistencies, and surface defects.
  • •Use precision measuring instruments to read and interpret results, verify die dimensions, and determine required repairs or modifications.
  • •Correct and polish die bearings, feeder plates, and other tooling surfaces using hand tools and pneumatic grinders to improve metal flow.
  • •Perform routine die maintenance and repair, including caustic cleaning and nitriding, and disassemble/reassemble multi-part die assemblies.
  • •Document die corrections and maintenance history in the plant’s computer system, troubleshoot die problems with press teams, and follow safety procedures while operating equipment.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED required.
  • •Several years of hands-on die correction and polishing experience in the aluminum extrusion industry preferred.
  • •Several years of hands-on experience (advanced roles typically require 5+ years) supporting die correction and polishing work.
  • •Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • •Proficient in using and correctly reading precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, dial indicators).
