Job Summary

Lead flood modelling and flood risk assessment work for a wide range of water and transportation projects. You’ll estimate flood flows using FEH methodologies, build and check hydraulic models with tools like Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and InfoWorks ICM, and produce technical reports documenting uncertainties. Collaborate with engineering teams, mentor staff, and deliver high-quality outputs within programme and budget.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead the estimation of flood flows using established methodologies in the Flood Estimations Handbook and develop/check hydraulic models for flood alleviation schemes and risk assessments.
•Produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model build and uncertainties, and scope modelling and hydrological approaches.
•Collaborate with engineering teams and technical specialists to support clients delivering fluvial, coastal, surface water, or drainage flood risk management projects.
•Mentor staff to support professional development and build relationships with internal clients and other technical disciplines.
•Use AECOM project management systems to deliver outputs aligned with programme and budget.

Key Requirements

•Over 10 years of experience in flood modelling and flood risk assessment.
•Significant experience applying hydraulic modelling software (Flood Modeller and/or TUFLOW) and hydrological assessments using FEH and REFH2.
•Demonstrable experience working on projects in UK&I.
•Strong GIS skills using QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or MapInfo.
•Fluent in English, both oral and written.
