Key Responsibilities

  • •Plan and conduct original robotics and AI research using appropriate methods, publishing high-quality outputs and presenting findings.
  • •Project manage research activities and supervise/examine PhD students while promoting inclusive and equitable practices.
  • •Develop and deliver undergraduate, postgraduate, and CPD teaching, with a focus on practical robotics teaching during the first two years.
  • •Contribute to programme and module review, mentoring others on inclusive learning and teaching approaches.
  • •Support administration/management and enterprise activities (e.g., knowledge transfer, business engagement, public engagement, widening participation) in line with EDI principles.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 47,389 - 56,635 annually

Key Requirements

  • •A relevant doctoral qualification in Engineering Robotics or a closely related discipline, particularly bridging engineering and AI.
  • •A first degree (we encourage applications from candidates with diverse educational backgrounds).
  • •Experience of mechanical engineering and practical robotics.
  • •Industrial experience through working in or with industry (desirable).
  • •Demonstrable track record in practical robotic systems and use of the Robot Operating System (ROS), plus success planning and managing high-quality research (desirable items included in the person specification).
