Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate and maintain natural gas power plant systems, including water treatment, steam generation, turbines, generators, control systems, and electrical systems.
  • •Operate PC-based control systems as the Inside Operator in the Steam Plant, including startup procedures, changing turbine/generator loading, and reading meters/logging data.
  • •Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment, complete records, and provide accurate written repair documentation through reports or MAXIMO work orders.
  • •Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on pumps, boilers, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, cooling towers, and related auxiliary equipment, including low/medium/high voltage switching and grounding.
  • •Support daily operations by using tools and procedures (e.g., precision measurement, welding/cutting, rigging, machining, non-destructive examination) and conduct on-the-job training.

Key Requirements

  • •High school education or GED with four years related experience, or 2 years related experience plus a 2-year Associates Degree in Power/Industrial Technology.
  • •Understands AC/DC circuit theory, digital and analog circuit theory, power plant cycle theory, and mechanics.
  • •Experience preferred with disassembly/re-assembly and alignment of centrifugal pumps up to 3,000 HP.
  • •Experience preferred with disassembly/re-assembly and packing of gate valves, Fisher control valve trim/soft goods, and/or butterfly valves.
  • •Must be a successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program.
