Key Responsibilities

•Own reliability and observability for the real-time ingestion path, including end-to-end SLOs and architectural changes driven by learnings.
•Sign off on shared critical paths before launch and intervene when error budgets are burning.
•Instrument systems for fast failure detection and data-driven debugging, building observability ahead of customer impact.
•Build reliability tooling (load generators, fault-injection harnesses, SLO instrumentation libraries, deployment safety checks) and production Python shared libraries/automation.
•Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/SAM) and automate deployments, scaling, backups, and limit changes; partner with product engineering to enable safe, fast shipping.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 130,000 - 190,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Strong production Python experience at scale, owned, tested, and maintained in production.
•Define and operate SLOs, including deliberate decisions on what not to alert on.
•Operate asynchronous, event-driven systems and reason about back-pressure, consumer lag, replay, poison messages, and partial failure (Kafka/Kinesis/SQS/Pulsar/Step Functions).
•5+ years building and operating distributed systems in AWS with reliability outcomes, not just reliability tasks.
•Infrastructure as Code experience using CloudFormation and SAM (or Terraform/Pulumi), plus hands-on instrumentation in monitoring tools like Sumo Logic, Datadog, Prometheus, or Splunk.
