Key Responsibilities

  • •Participate in the design process for single- and multi-phase electromagnetic and/or motor control solutions to meet project requirements.
  • •Design and develop novel high performance electric motor topologies and/or motor control solutions meeting cost, size, weight, and efficiency targets.
  • •Use 2D/3D static and transient electromagnetic FEA to model brushless motor design details.
  • •Develop and use dynamic power system simulation tools in MATLAB/Simulink to model performance, develop control strategies, and optimize design to meet product requirements.
  • •Test and verify new motor drive designs, collaborate with cross-functional engineers, and communicate results and project status to stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum first degree in electrical/electronic engineering (or equivalent), preferably with a machines and drives bias, plus significant industrial experience (3+ years).
  • •Advanced knowledge of electromagnetic machine design theory and extensive experience using 2D/3D static and transient electromagnetic FEA, preferably Simcenter MAGNET.
  • •Experience designing permanent magnet motors, including knowledge of soft and hard magnetic materials and their use in electrical machines.
  • •Knowledge of motor control techniques for low/high speed, single-phase and multi-phase permanent magnet and switched reluctance motors.
  • •Extensive experience testing and verification of electric motors, primarily permanent magnet and switched reluctance types.
