Job Summary

Serve as a part-time Project Architectural Historian supporting Heritage & Cultural Resources work across federal, state, and commercial projects. Conduct and lead survey fieldwork, perform architectural history research, and produce accurate documentation and technical reports. Apply National Park Service and Secretary of the Interior guidance to evaluate historic significance and project effects, while following safety and site procedures and producing quality work.

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain quality control standards for accurate reporting, evaluation, and documentation.
•Assist with architectural history work for cultural resource management, including research, report writing, and documentation of above-ground historic resources.
•Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures during resource surveys.
•Use National Park Service (NPS) and Secretary of the Interior guidance to evaluate historic significance and determine project effects on historic resources.
•Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making and follow WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Key Requirements

•Master’s Degree (MA/MHP) or graduate level certificate in Historic Architecture, Historic Preservation, History, or a related field.
•7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience working as a historian, architectural historian, or similar role.
•Meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR 61) in Historic Preservation and/or History, with strong knowledge of significance recommendations and justifications.
•Good organizational skills and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
•Skills for above-ground historic architectural and cultural surveys, including archival research and preparation of architectural reports and National Register assessments.
