Key Responsibilities

  • •Design, build, and operate an Azure cloud platform to support SMBC’s EMEA technology strategy within regulated banking constraints.
  • •Enable cloud adoption, platform modernisation, automation, and engineering best practices for scalable and reliable capabilities.
  • •Embed security, control, and operational resilience through an “everything-as-code” approach for auditability and regulatory compliance.
  • •Support cloud-native initiatives and drive migration/modernisation of existing applications from legacy and on-premises systems.
  • •Act as a senior technical contributor with hands-on engineering ownership while influencing broader platform strategy across the EMEA region.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in enterprise-scale, regulated environments.
  • •Strong knowledge of Azure landing zones, management groups, policy frameworks, and governance models.
  • •Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem technologies, especially Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • •Proven Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform and automated, auditable deployment pipelines in regulated environments.
  • •Strong cloud security and resilience knowledge, including zero-trust/identity-first models and disaster recovery/backup strategies.
