Key Responsibilities

  • •Run payroll end-to-end by owning the full Portuguese payroll cycle accurately, compliantly, and on time.
  • •Oversee payroll master data validation for new hires, terminations, salary changes, variable pay, benefits, absences, and garnishments.
  • •Perform rigorous pre- and post-payroll validations, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to keep payroll accurate.
  • •Handle statutory filings and required government accesses, including IRS withholding declarations, DMR filings to Segurança Social, and Modelo 10 and related claims.
  • •Configure and maintain the payroll system, test legislative updates, troubleshoot issues, support automation/scalability improvements, and coach junior specialists through complex problems.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years running the complete native in-house payroll process for Portugal and independently handling high-volume payslips.
  • •Advanced, hands-on experience with Portuguese payroll software Cegid (Primavera or PHC) and/or Sendys.
  • •Completed a recognized accounting/payroll qualification (e.g., Contabilista Certificado) and/or a dedicated payroll processing certification.
  • •Deep, current knowledge of Portuguese wage tax, social insurance, and labor law, with confidence advising stakeholders.
  • •C1/C2 Portuguese for local authority interactions and fluent English for collaborating with a global team.
