Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the roadmap for Bazel build rules, React Native bundling and codegen, balancing short-term fixes with long-term foundations.
  • •Mature mobile release and deployment tooling, including OTA and staged rollout, to make shipping predictable.
  • •Lead the staged migration of mobile repos into Canva’s monorepo, ensuring build, test, and release continuity.
  • •Set the CI quality-gating strategy across the build pipeline to surface reliability and speed issues early.
  • •Evolve the React Native build pipeline into a shared cross-platform foundation and build monitoring/health signals while mentoring engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep, hands-on expertise with build systems at production scale, including Bazel, Gradle, or Xcode.
  • •Proven ability to scope and deliver complex cross-team initiatives such as migrations, monorepo consolidation, or build-infrastructure programs.
  • •Strong native mobile engineering background in iOS and/or Android, with a clear point of view on cross-platform tooling trade-offs.
  • •Experience owning CI/CD or release pipelines that other teams depend on.
  • •Ability to set technical standards and document practices that others adopt as references.
