Job Summary

Deliver ecology consultancy services across complex projects, including planning and conducting ecology and protected species surveys, preparing tenders and ecological deliverables, and conducting Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments. Apply the mitigation hierarchy to develop mitigation, compensation, and enhancement measures, liaise with clients and GIS specialists, and manage client relationships, regulators, and stakeholders—while contributing to nature-positive outcomes at landscape scale.

Key Responsibilities

•Plan and undertake ecology surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and protected species surveys.
•Prepare tenders and ecological deliverables such as appraisals, protected species survey reports, method statements, and management plans.
•Conduct Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
•Apply the mitigation hierarchy to design mitigation, compensation, and enhancement measures.
•Work with clients, project teams, and GIS specialists, including client liaison, project management, and consultation with regulators and stakeholders.

Key Requirements

•An appropriate academic qualification and/or experience in a related discipline.
•Membership of CIEEM (or working towards it).
•Understanding of digital data collection tools such as Coreo, Fieldmaps, and Survey123.
•Professional experience in ecological consultancy or a regulatory environment.
•Knowledge of BNG principles and experience conducting BNG assessments, with strong report-writing skills.
