Key Responsibilities

•Design, build, and evolve the backend platform that enables chat- and agent-powered product experiences across Asana, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and extensibility.
•Build shared APIs, services, and abstractions that help product teams ship chat experiences more quickly and consistently without re-solving the same infrastructure problems.
•Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, and peer AI engineering teams to translate product needs into durable platform capabilities and pragmatic technical roadmaps.
•Improve the performance, observability, and operational quality of systems that support enterprise-grade chat experiences, including areas like latency, availability, state management, and debugging.
•Raise the effectiveness of the team by mentoring other engineers, improving technical design and planning practices, and proactively identifying opportunities to simplify systems and increase engineering leverage.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 176,000 - 200,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5+ years of full-time professional software development experience, including experience owning and delivering medium-to-large technical projects.
•Strong backend engineering fundamentals and experience building reliable, maintainable distributed systems in production.
•Demonstrates fluency with AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
•Proven ability to navigate complex architectural boundaries and collaborate cross-functionally with Infrastructure and Frontend teams.
•Strong instincts for production quality, including observability, testing, rollout safety, performance, and operational excellence.
