Job Summary

Build and evolve Canva’s Frontend Telemetry layer, including a new telemetry SDK designed for effortless, automatic instrumentation. Work deep in the browser stack (performance APIs, rendering, network execution) to drive reliability and performance visibility across hundreds of engineers. Own the SDK architecture and adoption across product teams, and help define measurement patterns for AI-native, clickless experiences alongside a cross-functional group.

Key Responsibilities

•Build a telemetry SDK that is easy to instrument, reason about, and extend—ideally minimizing manual developer instrumentation.
•Drive browser-stack-focused work across performance APIs, rendering, and the network execution path.
•Define how Canva measures AI-driven, AI-native experiences where traditional frontend telemetry doesn’t apply.
•Set telemetry SDK architecture and patterns, guiding the path from current measurement to the future state and rallying teams behind it.
•Lead by code by building the SDK in the codebase and driving adoption across product teams.

•Built or significantly evolved a frontend telemetry/observability/instrumentation system in production at scale.
•Operate naturally at the browser layer, with strong understanding of performance APIs, the rendering pipeline, and the network layer.
•Experience shaping answers for ambiguous or frontier problems where the playbook doesn’t fully apply.
•Demonstrated staff-level execution on work where both problem and solution are initially unknown.
•Production depth with React and TypeScript, plus experience managing state at scale (e.g., MobX or equivalent).
