Job Summary

Develop and coordinate detailed cost estimates across design and construction phases. Supervise quantity survey and cost evaluation work, review private consultant estimates, and support cost negotiations. Analyze blueprints, specifications, and proposals to estimate time, cost, materials, and labor, using cost-estimating software to build accurate projections. Partner with project managers to track projected vs. actual costs and adjust as needed.

•Coordinate and establish detailed cost estimates by conferring with technical, professional, managerial personnel, designers, consultants, and contractors.
•Prepare and/or ensure preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and/or construction.
•Supervise quantity surveys and cost evaluations tied to design documents, contract drawings, specifications, or contract changes.
•Review and report on contract estimates by private consultants and recommend whether an estimate is appropriate for implementation.
•Collaborate with project managers to monitor ongoing projects and compare projected costs to actual costs, adjusting as necessary.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 145,000 - 170,000 annually

Key Requirements

•BA/BS in Civil Engineering (or related field) plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
•Excellence in calculating prime time, labor escalation, and unstandardized coefficient.
•Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services, or related coursework.
•Eight years of experience as an estimator.
•Experience in the New York and New Jersey marketplace is preferred.
