Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical equipment, including communication cables, power distribution, and wiring for equipment and computer systems.
  • •Install, modify, and repair electrical/electronic devices and associated controls/components per manufacturer specifications, local regulations, and Smithfield safety policies.
  • •Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting electronic and electrical issues and respond to crisis calls with required tools and equipment.
  • •Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and help install new electrical equipment/appliances and utilities used in the manufacturing environment.
  • •Read blueprints/schematics/wiring diagrams, test subsystems/components to localize problems, maintain activity records/logs, and observe equipment to detect malfunctions.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED, with 1+ years of related experience/training in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing; or 4 years’ direct experience in a related maintenance environment.
  • •Strong knowledge of AC/DC motors, controls, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting.
  • •Knowledge of industrial communication protocols including TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus, HART, and serial communications.
  • •Experience with programmable logic/automation controllers and HMI concepts, including ladder logic and IEC-style languages (Preferred) using platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, GE, or Ignition.
  • •Basic computer skills and ability to work independently, with willingness to follow safety and food manufacturing practices.
