Key Responsibilities

  • •Work under the supervision of the Cook II and perform duties necessary to keep the facility in full operation.
  • •Prepare quantities of foods including meats, fish, vegetables, soups, sauces, eggs, salads, and baked goods using various cooking methods.
  • •Plan cooking schedules, test food for completion, adjust heat controls, and monitor baking, roasting, broiling, frying, and steaming.
  • •Provide measuring, mixing, stirring, cutting, grinding, chopping, and seasoning of ingredients according to recipes; monitor portioning and servings.
  • •Maintain daily operations for quality, quantity, safety, and sanitation; help train detainees and assist with delivery and utensil tasks as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •High school diploma or GED is required.
  • •One year of experience in large-scale cooking.
  • •Inter/intra communication skills and the ability to follow Standard Codes of Conduct for interaction with detainee population.
  • •Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • •Pass a thorough background investigation (fingerprint check, criminal history) and pre-employment drug test; random drug testing may be performed.
