Job Summary

Design, develop, and implement packaging solutions for Trane Commercial HVAC products from inception through end of life. Partner with Product Management, Engineering/Design, and Supply Chain to deliver structural designs, material specifications, and cost/feasibility analysis. Serve as senior packaging subject matter expert for engineering and supply chain, validate packaging against industry and internal requirements, and help resolve field and factory issues.

•Lead packaging design requirements development for all Trane Commercial HVAC products and provide technical direction and mentoring.
•Serve as senior packaging subject matter expert for Engineering and Supply Chain teams, guiding packaging concepts, feasibility, cost optimization, manufacturability, and supplier capability development.
•Facilitate testing and validation of packaged products against industry specifications, regulations, and internal requirements.
•Support field and factory problem resolution related to packaging performance.
•Mentor and develop other packaging engineers and team members in packaging design, test methods, validation processes, and best practices.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Packaging and 5+ years of packaging experience.
•Knowledge of packaging suppliers, testing labs, and carriers to ensure appropriate packaging.
•Experience using ASTM, ISTA, and NMFC standards/specifications/rules for proper packaging of goods moving by motor carrier.
•Ability to protect products from scuffing, vibration, crushing, dropping, humidity, and condensation for Less-Than-Truckload shipping.
•CAD proficiency and the ability to work effectively across engineering, design, laboratory, and supply chain teams.
