Job Summary

Develop and maintain Linux-based operating systems for datacenter servers, including bare metal and third-party cloud servers. You’ll migrate device drivers and OS components onto the Bytedance kernel and Linux distribution, participate in Linux kernel code reviews, and help design systems for OS quality assurance, image building, and deployment/operations maintenance. Serve as the primary escalation point for OS issues, coordinating across internal teams to ensure prompt resolution.

Key Responsibilities

•Migrate device drivers and OS key components from Linux upstream or vendor code to adopt the Bytedance kernel and Linux OS distribution.
•Participate in regular code reviews for Linux kernel and OS key component changes.
•Design and develop systems for OS and kernel quality assurance testing, OS image building, and OS deployment/operation maintenance.
•Develop and improve OS quality testing, delivery, deployment, and maintenance processes for both bare metal and third-party cloud servers.
•Act as the primary escalation point for end-user OS issues and coordinate across internal teams to resolve them promptly.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related major.
•At least 5+ years of experience in Linux operating system development or similar fields.
•Familiarity with computer architecture and the server development lifecycle.
•Proficiency in at least one or more general-purpose programming languages such as C/C++, Go, Python, or Java.
•Experience with Linux/Unix OS architecture and Linux kernel mechanisms, including Linux kernel programming, systemd, and glibc (preferred).
