Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead South Korea regulatory navigation by monitoring, analyzing, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and serving as primary contact for regulators (e.g., KFTC, KCC, PIPC).
  • •Oversee data privacy and protection compliance under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), including cross-border data transfers and cybersecurity protocols.
  • •Secure and maintain local operating licenses and manage responses to regulatory audits or inquiries.
  • •Draft, review, and negotiate local commercial agreements, and support negotiations end-to-end with partners (e.g., hotels, airlines, payment gateways, marketing vendors).
  • •Manage litigation and disputes (including claims filed with the Korea Consumer Agency), coordinate external counsel, and provide governance and risk mitigation guidance.

Key Requirements

  • •LL.B., LL.M., or J.D. degree.
  • •5-10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally mixing law firm and multinational in-house counsel experience in internet, e-commerce, or OTA.
  • •Proven experience dealing directly with KFTC, KCC, or PIPC, with deep knowledge of consumer protection and data privacy law.
  • •Native Korean fluency and professional English fluency for communicating with global teams.
  • •Exceptional commercial mindset and ability to make independent, risk-based assessments in ambiguous environments.
