Job Summary

Lead flood and hydrological assessment work that supports flood risk management, reservoir engineering, water resources strategy, and environmental permitting. You’ll technically verify hydrological reports and model calibration, mentor team members in hydrological estimation, and support business development across national and international water projects. In addition, you’ll monitor relevant legislation and deliver thought leadership by representing AECOM at conferences while driving innovation, including AI-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities

•Technically lead or verify flood hydrological assessments supporting flood alleviation scheme design, reservoir engineering, and flood risk assessments.
•Technically review or verify reports documenting hydrological assessments.
•Support Water team business development activities for clients on national and international projects.
•Mentor staff within the team in hydrological estimation to support professional development.
•Deliver thought leadership and represent AECOM at conferences while driving innovation (including AI solutions).

Key Requirements

•Degree (BSc/BEng/MSc) in Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related discipline.
•More than 15 years’ experience leading estimation of flood flows using FEH and REFH2 for flood mapping and reservoir engineering.
•Deep understanding of statistical hydrological analysis and experience calibrating hydraulic models with hydraulic modellers.
•Strong GIS skills using QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or MapInfo.
•Chartered member of ICE or CIWEM, with experience in rating reviews (and scripting knowledge/experience like R, Python, Anaconda, Ruby, Hydrology+, or WINEP low-flow studies as advantageous).
