Job Summary

Backend Engineer in the UTH team responsible for designing, developing, and operating Trust & Safety backend systems to detect, prevent, and respond to policy violations and abuse, collaborating with Data Analysts, SRE, security, and product teams to improve quality, performance, security, and reliability of Pairs’ platform.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, implement, and operate back-end systems for Trust & Safety to reduce risk of violations and abuse and to protect users, collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.
•Analyze user behavior, system logs, and policy outcomes to identify risk signals and trends, and evaluate the impact and scale of issues.
•Improve detection, prevention, investigation, and response mechanisms by continuously analyzing data and evolving patterns to meet changing risk scenarios.
•Collaborate with Trust & Safety, Data Analysts, product backend teams, SRE, and security teams to improve quality, performance, security, and operability of systems.
•Contribute to increasing user trust and platform reliability by effectively preventing abuse and protecting users on Pairs.

Key Requirements

•3+ years of implementation, release, and operations experience with commercial applications
•Experience building commercial Web APIs running on public clouds (AWS/GCP)
•Basic knowledge of middleware commonly used in web apps (Nginx, MySQL)
•Fluent Japanese; conversational English
•Willingness to learn about AI-related areas and experience using Coding Agent for development
