Key Responsibilities

  • •Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and CarMax standards using a company hauler or non-Class-A commercial motor vehicle.
  • •Maintain accurate and compliant DOT logs and documentation.
  • •Load, secure, transport, and unload CarMax vehicles safely and efficiently, including hands-on freight handling and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • •Move vehicles between CarMax locations and approved vendors, and deliver/pick up vehicles at customer locations using a company-provided truck.
  • •Follow CarMax Standard Work to prepare and execute home deliveries and appraisal pickups while handling paperwork accurately and representing CarMax professionally.

Key Requirements

  • •21 years of age or older with a valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • •Clean driving record with no serious violations in the past three years, meeting CarMax’s Driver Safety Evaluation criteria.
  • •Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive load-securement tasks (pulling/torquing/tensioning chains, binders, straps).
  • •Ability to climb, bend, and kneel to access and secure vehicles on multi-level transport decks and meet DOT & FMCSA qualification requirements.
  • •Must possess or obtain a DOT Medical Card before starting; comfortable working outdoors in all weather.
