Provide specialized technical support for underground medium- and high-voltage power cable design, standards compliance, commissioning, maintenance, operation, and investigation to ensure safe and reliable power supply. Validate cable designs (conductor sizing, shielding/grounding, thermal performance), advise on routing and protection methods, recommend grounding/bonding strategies, and support root-cause analysis of cable failures. Also develop cable condition assessment procedures and mentor technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

•Review and validate underground cable designs, including conductor sizing, installation methods, shield grounding, thermal performance, and compliance with standards.
•Ensure company cable assets comply with regulations for medium-voltage (up to 36 kV) and high-voltage (up to 230 kV) cables.
•Advise on cable routing, clearances, parallel/crossing spacing, and protection methods for cables crossing pipelines, roads, and hazardous areas.
•Recommend grounding and bonding strategies for cable shields and sheaths to minimize circulating currents and induced voltages.
•Participate in root cause analysis of cable failures and recommend corrective actions/design improvements; develop procedures for assessing power cable condition; provide consulting and mentor junior staff.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university; an advanced degree is a plus.
•Professional Engineering certifications (e.g., chartership or PE) are preferred.
•Minimum 10 years of experience in design, technical assurance, and health assessment of medium/high-voltage (5kV to 230kV) power cables.
•Knowledge of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards for power cables and accessories, including insulation, termination, and splicing technologies.
•Ability to manage changing priorities, proactively improve results/processes, and quickly apply newly acquired technical information.
