Job Summary

Mobile Diesel Technician II responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks in a mobile/field setting. You’ll diagnose, repair, and document work, manage your daily schedule with minimal supervision, and coordinate with management to ensure safety and compliance while supporting Cox Fleet’s on-site maintenance model.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
•Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Air conditioning systems, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines, Transmissions, Clutches, Differentials.
•Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
•Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.

Key Requirements

•High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field; or another combination (e.g., any level degree/certification) or 5 years’ related field experience
•Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
•Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months
•This position follows DOT/FMCSA regulations; candidate must pass a DOT-regulated background screening and DOT physical prior to employment
•Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining, or a DOT physical if four months or less remaining
